What: The initial (April, 2019) data presented on the site contains every tracked pitch from 50 games played at two fields over ten games, with a few exceptions: one game was not captured and some pitches were determined to be missing. We at Baseball Prospectus have checked every pitch represented on this site for accuracy and quality.
-
How: This initial data was collected from the 8th edition of the Women’s Baseball World Cup, held August 22-31, 2018 in Viera, Florida. The raw data used to create these player cards is courtesy of Flightscope and the USSSA, without whom this project would not be possible.

Why: There is a distinct lack of data and in-depth analysis available for the women’s game, and that is something we at Baseball Prospectus seek to fix. The women’s game is just as vital and fascinating as the men’s, and there is no reason why we should not approach it with the same serious curiosity.
